Tire Repair Tricks You Should Know

How to Extend Your Tire’s Lifespan

There’s nothing worse than being stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire. But knowing a few tire repair tricks can help you get back on the road quickly and safely. Here are a few things to keep in mind the next time you’re faced with a flat tire:

Step 1

If you have a spare tire in your trunk, great! Start by loosening the lug nuts on the flat tire with a wrench. Then, jack up the car and remove the flat tire. Replace it with the spare tire, and tighten the lug nuts. Lower the car and you’re good to go. If you don’t have a spare tire, don’t worry. You can still fix the flat tire and get back on the road.

Step 2

Use a piece of cardboard or a tire plug kit to plug the hole in the tire. If you’re using a piece of cardboard, cut a patch that’s slightly larger than the hole. Place the patch over the hole and use duct tape to secure it in place. If you’re using a tire plug kit, follow the instructions that come with the kit.

Step 3

Once the hole is plugged, inflate the tire with a hand pump or an air compressor. Check the pressure with a tire pressure gauge to make sure it’s at the correct level.

Step 4

Call a professional to come and help if you’re still having trouble. They’ll be able to help you get your tire repaired or replaced so you can be on your way. It doesn’t have to be a nightmare. With a little know-how, you can fix a flat tire and be back on the road in no time.
